Our business was founded by George Nicolson, who started with a friend who was a painter and decorator, and a strong will to succeed. Over the years, we have moved premises a few times, finally settling in our current offices at Salamander Street, Leith in 1991. Throughout this time, we have built a reputation for high standards throughout the industry, focusing on the commercial market, redecorating banks, public houses, hotels, large private houses, and offices.

We offer a range of decorating services, including commercial and residential decorating, main contracting, specialist finishes, and more. Our team of experienced and trained professionals work closely with clients, designers, surveyors, and architects to deliver high-quality projects that meet clients' standards, budgets, and programs. We also have an established and reliable chain of suppliers and sub-contractors, allowing us to expand and develop our services to meet the growing demands of our clients.
Our Values
At George Nicolson, we strongly believe in training for growth throughout our workforce, including Health & Safety, First Aid, CDM, IT, trade and people skills, as well as on-site and off-site management. We also have an apprenticeship policy that enables us to develop our own tradespeople for the future. As an active member of the Scottish Decorators' Federation, we stay up-to-date with the latest legislation and work closely with Construction Skills, colleges, suppliers, and many other organizations.
